BOOK SYNOPSIS
Sam Torrance is one of the most popular and charismatic golfers in the world - and one of the most successful.
He has spent the last three decades at the top of the professional game and has been a part of many memorable Ryder Cup teams. At The Belfry in 1985, Sam famously sank the winning putt on the 18th hole - which secured Europe's first Ryder Cup victory in 28 years - but it is the most recent Ryder Cup victory that has become the greatest member of his career. On 29th September 2002, Europe regained the Ryder cup to devastating effect, under the captaincy of Sam Torrance. A man notorious for his love of gambling, Sam played for high stakes when he sent out the best players onto the course first, but it was a gamble that paid dividends when the team beat the Americans by 3 points.
In this autobiography, Sam tells the story of his fascinating life and charts the highs and lows of a remarkable 40 years of golf: taking us from Sam's childhood in Largs, where he was coached by his golf pro father, through his days as an assistant at Sunningdale and following his glorious career through his most recent Ryder Cup success. An inspiration to golfers across the world, Sam: The Autobiography of Sam Torrance reveals a personal insight into the man, as well as the golf legend.
