BOOK SYNOPSIS

OUR REVIEW
If you love the darts, you will very much remember the BDO days when they were the top dog when it came to the game, before the PDC juggernaut overtook and blitzed them out of the sport. And when it comes to the BDO, there aren't many players more well known than The Viking, Andy Fordham.
Sadly, Fordham is no longer with us, having passed in 2021 but his book is a very interesting look at the game of darts, in particular the BDO where he played most of his career, and against some of the most iconic players ever, remembering many of the games classic matches.
The stand-out feature of the book outside of darts, is of course his battle with both alcohol and weight where at his peak he weighed 31 stone and lived off a liquid alcohol diet. One of the games most lovable characters, his game sadly suffered heavily at times but his efforts to overcome these afflictions are also documented, including his time on Celebrity Fit Club.
The book of course covers his epic 2004 World Championship triumph, perhaps one of the games greatest ever moments for one of the most liked players by fans and pundits alike and what it was like to win, the aftermath and the increasing health concerns that came about.
Any darts fan will love this book and should be on any list as a good solid autobiography that details the sport but also the battles outside of the game that not many see or hear about.
