BOOK SYNOPSIS
Chris Hargreaves has been a professional footballer for over twenty years. Having started out as a youth team player at Everton he made his debut for Grimsby Town in 1989 and was earmarked as their first million pound sale.
It never happened.
Instead he went on to play for Scarborough, Hull City, West Brom, Hereford United, Plymouth Argyle, Northampton Town, Brentford, Oxford United and Torquay United. He loved almost every minute of it, even if he didn't get to play for England.
Where's Your Caravan? is the sort of football memoir we don't see enough of these days - an account of life in the lower leagues. It takes us from his wild youth through to domesticated family man, complete with school runs and flatpack furniture, and plenty of football in between.
When Chris Hargreaves lifted the cup at the Blue Square Premiership play-off final at Wembley it marked the high point of a length football career, and his first play-off victory in six attempts. he played in over 700 league and non-league games, being awarded man of the match in over 80 occasions. He retired from the game in 2010.
